Côteaux du Giennois rouge

Description

Our vineyards are located in the Southern part of the appellation, close to the border of Pouilly Fumé near Saint-Peré. We have 3,9 hectares of Pinot Noir and Gamay, planted on clay, limestone and red flint soils. These soils, along with the Southern exposure of the vineyards, give the vines sufficient sunshine to achieve optimal ripeness whilst retaining freshness and acidity. Both varietals grow on a parcel called La Colmine, which refers to the hill. The Gamay, planted towards the lower part of the hill, contributes towards the fruit expression, and the Pinot Noir, planted towards the top of the hill, provides structure and depth.

Our vineyards are farmed organically, a practice that not only cultivates the vines but also enriches the soil, ensuring the sustainability and health benefits of our wines. This commitment to organic farming is a testament to our dedication to producing high-quality, natural wines.

Winemaking

Our Pinot Noir and Gamay are kept partially as whole bunches. We cold macerate the grapes in stainless steel tanks before alcoholic fermentation to extract aroma, colour, and flavour. We do one pump-over per day, which gently extracts the delicate profiles of the two cultivars. After fermentation, we blend and transfer the wine into wood tanks for malolactic conversion, followed by ageing for one year before filtration.

Tasting

The wine is lively with an intense ruby in colour. On the nose, aromas of red cherry, crushed raspberries, and strawberries leap from the glass.

The palate is fresh and vibrant, with smooth, silky tannins, bright fruit acidity, and a mouthwatering finish. The length of the wine carries through with hints of spice and white pepper.
